Alfried Krupp Institute for Advanced Study awards the 200th Fellowship to Professor Dr. Eve-Marie Becker

An important milestone in the history of the Alfried Krupp Institute for Advanced Study in Greifswald was reached in October 2024: the 200th Alfried Krupp Fellowship was awarded to Professor Dr. Eve-Marie Becker from the University of Münster. Prof. Becker will conduct research at the Kolleg as a Senior Fellow for twelve months in the academic year 2024/25. Her project “Jesus of Nazareth: A Historical Biography” sheds light on the historical person of Jesus in the context of early Judaism and his influence on human history.

The current cohort of fellows comprises fourteen researchers from the humanities, natural sciences and social sciences. They benefit from the opportunity to cooperate beyond their specific disciplines with each other and with members of the university and local non-university research institutions. This interdisciplinary collaboration strengthens the local scientific community and promotes long-term cooperation far beyond Greifswald.

The Alfried Krupp Fellows Program, which is at the heart of the Kolleg’s work, was established in 2007 and has been funded by the Alfried Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach Foundation ever since. It enables the fellows to concentrate on larger scientific projects independently of teaching commitments and administrative tasks. The Fellow projects are selected in such a way that they strengthen the University of Greifswald’s research priorities and make a significant contribution to the promotion of science and research in Greifswald as an academic location.
