May 13, 6.30 pm: Lecture „2x Fotografie: Zwischen Bewahren und Ausstellen“

How do we preserve historical photographs for future generations? How does digitisation influence the archiving of photographs? What role does their staging in exhibitions play? And what are the challenges of contextualising historical photographs today? The lecture combines two perspectives: Peter Konarzewski, photo restorer at the Museum Folkwang, sheds light on the challenges of conserving and digitising historical photographs. Dr Sophie-Charlotte Opitz, curator at the Bucerius Kunst Forum, will provide insights into innovative exhibition concepts and the significance of photography for collective memory and reflection on the economy, society and history. The evening will be introduced by Prof Dr Ralf Stremmel, Head of the Krupp Historical Archive. The lecture will be held in German.
