The Krupp Foundation took part in this year’s legal communications summit in Berlin

Volker Troche, Spokesman of the Executive Board, and Barbara Wolf, Head of Communications, Strategy Development and Transformation, were invited to speak at this year’s Legal Communications Summit in Berlin. Their topic was “Dealing with the past in the present: communication on Krupp”. Their discussion with moderator Daria Gladkov focused on the project launched by the foundation in 2022 to come to terms with Alfried Krupp, the founder and namesake of the foundation.

Troche and Wolf emphasized that the foundation sees it as its responsibility to come to terms with the person of its namesake. A reappraisal is never complete, as young people are always asking new questions and research perspectives change over time.

Both also spoke about communication, which plays a central role in a sensitive project like this. This is based on careful preparation, a clearly defined strategy and a target group-specific approach. Stakeholders are addressed in a targeted manner via suitable channels and content, whereby a consistent approach is crucial.

The foundation is also faced with the task of developing a digital application in addition to a planned multi-perspective publication. The aim is to make history accessible to as wide an audience as possible, especially young people. This raises the question of how scientific facts can be prepared in such a way that they remain well-founded and serious, while at the same time being understandable and appealing.
