Krupp Foundation at the Citizens’ Festival of the Federal President: Stronger together
On 13 and 14 September, the Krupp Foundation took part in the annual Citizens’ Festival of the Federal President at Bellevue Palace. This festival honours volunteer work in Germany and emphasises the importance of said work in civil society.
This year, the focus was, in particular, on Africa and the partner country Kenya. The motto “Pamoja – stronger together” in Swahili reflects the spirit of cohesion. In line with this motto, Federal President Steinmeier appealed in his opening speech to the need to stand up to anti-democratic forces and strengthen social cohesion.
The invitation to participate in the Citizens’ Festival is a special recognition of decades of sponsorship. To date, the Krupp Foundation has invested EUR 695 million in charitable projects in the fields of science, education, the arts and culture, health and sport.
There was the opportunity to talk with numerous visitors about current projects and to present the Krupp Foundation’s long-standing charitable commitment. Interactive elements, including a digital game, gave participants the opportunity to find out more about the foundation and win ecological prizes, including the Foundation’s own honey and bookmarks made from seed paper.
For 56 years and counting, the Krupp Foundation has been committed to positive developments in Essen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany and beyond. As the largest shareholder of today’s thyssenkrupp AG, the proceeds from the shareholding in the company are used exclusively for charitable purposes. The goal is to promote creativity and commitment, support equal opportunity, contribute to international understanding and improve the education of the younger generation.
