Funding and events in 2024 – Krupp Foundation draws a positive conclusion

This year, the Alfried Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach Foundation implemented the ‘150 projects for the Ruhr region’ funding programme, which was announced in 2023 and endowed with 1.77 million euros. The foundation has also continued the extensive programme from the anniversary year at Villa Hügel. In addition to the guided tours of previously closed rooms at Villa Hügel, highlights included the indie pop concert, the performance by artist Finja Sander and the cinema screenings in the Obere Halle. The programme was overwhelmingly popular: More than 120,000 visitors* experienced new perspectives, explored unusual paths, including digital ones, and had new shared experiences on the hill.

150 projects for the Ruhr region: projects pick up speed

The ‘150 projects for the Ruhr’ programme, which was announced in 2023, met with great interest: 510 applications from 30 Ruhr cities were submitted. In order to be able to realise the selected applications, the total funding amount was even increased to €1.77 million. The 150 projects, which cover topics such as hospice work, happiness, crafts, football and virtual reality, will run for up to two years and will be closely monitored by the Krupp Foundation.

Outlook for the 2025 programme

Due to the positive response, the Foundation will continue with selected visitor-orientated formats in 2025, inviting visitors of all generations to rediscover the historic site. In addition to proven programme items such as cinema, salon and lectures, more offers for children and families will be created in future. Guided tours for children, a ‘Hügel Family Day’ in August and a sports programme for the whole family will invite visitors to enjoy shared experiences.
